    Pre-Test Training

Pre-test Training (Moped / A1 / A2 / DAS)

Duration: 90-minute sessions

We offer tailored motorcycle training sessions to ready you for the DVSA Module 1 and Module 2 tests.

You can make savings by purchasing a block of lessons or combining the cost of your CBT with additional pre-test training when purchased together. Alternatively you can book and pay for lessons individualy as you go.

Various factors will influence how much pre-test training you require including but not limited to previous experience of riding motorcycles / push bikes, driving cars, having your own machine etc.

During your pre-test training as well as covering all the DVSA test elements we will be working to make you a safe and competent rider.

The motorcycle test is in two parts and you must complete Mod 1 before you can take your Mod 2 test. Both tests can be taken on the same day or you can choose to take them at a different time as long as the Mod 2 test is taken before the Mod 1 and Theory test expire.

Mod 1 Test

The Module 1 test takes about 20 mins and involves a number of exercises including:

  • Wheeling the machine and using the stand.
  • Doing a slalom and figure of eight.
  • A slow ride
  • U-turn
  • Cornering
  • Normal Stop
  • Emergency Stop
  • Hazard Avoidance

Your Module 1 pass certificate is valid for the duration of your Theory and Hazard Perception Test, and you must pass your Module 2 test before they expire.

We have the advantage at Scotriders of having the largest sole purpose training centre in the country which allows us to practice all Mod 1 exercises on site also allowing you a practice run through the whole test before heading up to the test centre.

Mod 2 Test

The Module 2 test takes appox 40 mins during which you must demonstrate to the examiner that you are safe and competent to ride out on the road.

The test includes:

  • An eye sight check
  • Show and tell questions
  • Road riding featuring a variety of road and traffic conditions during which you will be asked to pull in and move off from the side of the road from behind a parked vehicle and on a hill start (where possible) and approx 10 mins independent riding.

By the time you complete your pre-test motorcycle training with Scotriders you will be a much more accomplished rider, ready and able to pass your test. We will not put you up for test until we believe you are ready.
